Romantic Plans for Your Proposal

Posted on August 19, 2011 Written by danrak

It is an exciting day when you’ve decided to ask your girlfriend to become your wife. Because it is such a momentous occasion, you want to make sure that you make your proposal as romantic and special as you can. It is a story that the two of you will have to tell to friends and family over and over again, and it is something that you will remember for the rest of your lives.

The way that you choose to propose should be based on the two of you and what each of you would feel comfortable doing. If you don’t feel confident enough to propose in the middle of a crowded, public place with every eye watching you, then don’t do it. If she’s very shy and doesn’t like being the center of attention, it won’t be very romantic to her to be proposed to in that style anyway. Take into consideration the personalities of each of you, what you would feel comfortable doing, and what she would like the best. That will be the first step in finding the most romantic way to propose to her.

One of the biggest things that affects a proposal is where it happens. You can make it truly romantic and meaningful if you pick a good place. Select a location that is special to the two of you for some reason. Maybe it’s your favorite restaurant, a hiking trail you go on often, or the place where you first met. If you go to one of these places to propose, she will know that you put some thought into it and chose something that was significant to both of you. That’s a very romantic gesture and it will mean a lot.

Another romantic option for a proposal is to do it on a special occasion. Some people might find it cheesy to propose on Valentine’s Day or the anniversary of the day you started dating, but if you know that your girlfriend is a hopeless romantic and would love that sort of thing, it may be the perfect time to do it. Another great opportunity is when you are on vacation. Being in a tropical setting, relaxing, and not having to deal with the stresses of daily life can be the perfect time to give a proposal. Vacations are special to begin with, but adding a proposal to the mix will just make it an unforgettable one.

How you actually say the proposal can affect how romantic and special it is as well. Though you might be nervous, to your best to be composed and remember what it is you want to say. Getting down on one knee is a very traditional move that a lot of girls will appreciate, and putting the ring on her finger once she says yes is a very romantic move.

Try to say something that is romantic when you first ask. Even if you just simply say “Will you marry me?” that might be good enough. You don’t want to try and say something clever or witty and then end up just sounding foolish. You also want to make sure that it is very clear that you are proposing to her. If you plan something that you know is clever and will get a positive response from her, then of course it’s fine to go with that. In fact, if you come up with something personal to say or a reference to an inside joke, she may find that even more romantic and meaningful than anything else that you could say. Go with your instinct and keep her likes in mind and you’re sure to find make a very romantic proposal.
